Ethereum Foundation partners with SEAL in battle against crypto wallet drainers

A new Trillion Dollar Security dashboard has been launched by the Ethereum Foundation and SEAL to monitor Ethereum's security infrastructure in the ongoing fight against wallet draining attacks.

The Ethereum Foundation has committed to sponsoring the Security Alliance (SEAL), a nonprofit organization focused on cryptocurrency security, in an effort to "track and neutralize" wallet drainers and social engineering attackers who are targeting users within the Ethereum ecosystem.

In a Monday announcement, SEAL revealed the launch of its "Trillion Dollar Security" initiative in partnership with the EF, a collaboration that emerged after the nonprofit approached the foundation in late last year seeking financial support to hire security engineers dedicated to monitoring drainer development and defending against large-scale attack campaigns.

SEAL disclosed that the EF is now funding a dedicated security engineer who will work exclusively with SEAL's intelligence team, with the engineer's "sole mission" being to fight against drainers that specifically target users of Ethereum.

The overarching goal of SEAL is to safeguard participants in the cryptocurrency market by offering collaborative platforms for sharing threat intelligence and coordinating incident response, all while ensuring legal protections are in place for white-hat hackers working within the organization.

"The Security Alliance has done important work to combat attacks and the ecosystem has benefited tremendously,"

The Ethereum Foundation posted to X in response to SEAL's announcement.

Wallet drainers and phishing attackers frequently deploy fake websites or create fraudulent email communications designed to mimic legitimate cryptocurrency protocols, deceiving users into authorizing wallet transactions that appear harmless but ultimately result in the theft of their digital assets.

The methods employed by these bad actors have grown significantly more advanced in recent years, creating an urgent demand for enhanced detection capabilities and more effective prevention strategies.

According to estimates from ScamSniffer, a crypto intelligence platform, these malicious actors have successfully stolen approximately $1 billion worth of cryptocurrency funds throughout the years. Yet, thanks to the combined efforts of SEAL and other cryptocurrency investigators, that figure was reduced to just $84 million in 2025, marking an all-time low.

Ethereum security dashboard launched to track progress

The EF and SEAL have developed a comprehensive Trillion Dollar Security dashboard designed to monitor Ethereum's security posture across six distinct dimensions: User experience, smart contracts, infrastructure and cloud, consensus protocol, monitoring and incident response, social layer and governance.

Within each dimension, there are between 8 and 29 individual risk controls under active monitoring, accompanied by clearly identified "priority work" items that require immediate attention and resolution.

SEAL open to working with other crypto ecosystems

According to SEAL, the collaboration with the EF represents just the beginning, as it is the first among several planned initiatives with other progressive cryptocurrency ecosystems, and the organization is actively inviting additional crypto ecosystems to make contact:

"If your foundation or crypto ecosystem is interested in similar sponsorship opportunities, we're happy to discuss how this model protects users at scale,"

SEAL said.
